The Idiot Box!
It's been a long time since I posted. It is just that I noticed two things. First, that I hadn't blogged in a long time (as if I used to regularly blog!), and second, that the idiot box has really changed our lives drastically.
This happened some time last week. It was late evening and everyone was back home. It was time to switch on the Idiot Box. But when we did switch it on, we noticed that there was no reception due to some fault at the cable operators end (of which we came to know the next day).
After some cursing and swearing at the Cable operators, we slowly started talking. Yes! In our family we do talk. But it is only when the need arises. I realised that it had been a very long time since I had actually 'spoken' to my parents or my brother.
Life does that to you. You are so busy with everyday things, that ultimately you are estranged from your own family. That night we spoke for quite some time. And suddenly there were so many things that I wanted to share with my brother and my parents.
The Idiot Box really does rule our lives. But that night, thanks to whatever problem was there, I got to speak to my family. Now I make it a point to 'speak' to my family whenever I get the chance. What had started with cursing at the Cable operators, ended with a silent thanks to them by me.
